Zzoloft's Planar Blade (Mark IV)

Sorry for the unplanned hiatus, but Hurricane Irma put me in some kind of serious funk.  Anyhow, I don't think anyone's going to see this where I posted it on G+, and that seems like a damn shame, so here's a magic item:

Zzoloft's Planar Blade (Mark IV) - a finely crafted, softly shimmering scimitar with decorative etchings covering the blade, and a tasteful, jewel-encrusted hilt.  When swung, observers get a feeling they're being watched and can hear the low howl of far off winds.  The weapon acts as a +1 sword, though on a fumble, the blade vanishes mid-swing and strikes an unseen target on some unknown plane (the intended target is unharmed, if not somewhat alarmed).  Rolling a 1 on 1d6 results in the struck planar entity not taking kindly to such nonsense and materializing in the prime material plane to express their displeasure the very next round.

For extra fun, have players roll 1d10 when unsheathing the sword, with a result of 1 indicating the blade is currently elsewhere.

A note on the creator:  Try as he might, Zzoloft wasn't very good at creating magical items.  This sword was his fourth and final attempt at harnessing planar energies in an attempt to weaponize them.  In his short, but depressing career, Zzoloft made many other near misses (some nearly potentially useful) and died eventually (and unceremoniously) of self-inflicted wounds.
